Surviving the holidays

- BRENDA HOLDAWAY

Here are some ideas to help you survive the remainder of the summer holidays, and make sure that each day is just as enjoyable as the last.

Have something planned to do each day, either at home or out and about – get the children to come up with some ideas.

You can say no if it costs money. Use the internet for ideas if necessary.

Encourage the children to do the setting up, preparing, tidying up for each activity that you plan.

This will support their inde- pendence skills as well as take the pressure off you.

Include other people/friends in your outings and entertainment.

It is just as easy to have friends to share in the fun, then you have more adult company as well.

If you have friends without the adults, then those friends’ parents can help by having your children another day.

It’s okay to do the same thing more than once – especially if the children enjoy it.

Thankfully we are having good sunny days – so there are lots of fun things in our local community that we can do – enjoy it.
