Sem­i­nar on heart health

Nel­so­ni­ans liv­ing with a heart con­di­tion or sup­port­ing some­one with heart dis­ease will have a chance to learn about man­ag­ing their health at an up­com­ing sem­i­nar.

Clin­i­cal nurse spe­cial­ist Paul Pea­cock is speak­ing at a pub­lic sem­i­nar hosted by the Heart Foun­da­tion.

Nel­son/Marl­bor­ough heart health ad­vo­cate Averil West said that Pea­cock had more than two decades of ex­pe­ri­ence in car­diac nurs­ing.

She said he would present a sim­ple jour­ney of the heart by ex­plain­ing what could be done to help main­tain its func­tion.

‘‘Paul helps peo­ple with heart dis­ease to man­age their own heart health, lower their risk of fu­ture ad­mis­sions to hospi­tal, and im­prove qual­ity of life,’’ West said.

Nu­tri­tion­ist and Heart Foun­da­tion vol­un­teer Vicky St­ed­man would also be at the sem­i­nar to an­swer ques­tions on chang­ing eat­ing habits.

The sem­i­nar will ap­peal to any­one with a heart con­di­tion or who may be sup­port­ing some­one liv­ing with heart dis­ease.

Heart Health Sem­i­nar at the Old Folks Hall, Trafal­gar Street. Mon­day, October 9 from 10.30am till mid­day.
