Skating success for mother and daughter
Mother and daughter skaters Keiko Bamba and Mitsuko Nam enjoyed success at the recent Oceania Artistic Championships in Beenleigh, Queensland.
Nam represented New Zealand and competed in the junior international grade.
She placed second in the Oceania category in the Junior international ladies figures event, and fourth overall in the junior international ladies solo dance event.
She was also a member of the quartet team that placed fourth overall.
This was her fifth year representing New Zealand at the Oceania championships.
Bamba skates in Nelson but represents Japan. This was her 4th year representing Japan at the Oceania championships.
She competed in the masters international figures and masters international solo dance events, placing fifth in the figures and seventh in solo dance.
Nam said it was exciting to attend the international competition.
She said they were able to get in plenty of concentrated training before the competition.
