STU SAYS

The Leader (Tasman) - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

Sad as it may be I got very excited when I heard that Lionel Richie was coming to NZ.

So we rushed off and bought some tickets, dialled up Lionel Brings His Best on Spotify and braced myself for a life-affirming concert experience.

I think maybe I went a bit overboard by saying, ‘‘Hello, is it me you’re cooking for?’’ every time I walked in the door.

If my wife ever found that amusing she did an excellent job of hiding it.

Imagine then my disappointment when Lionel cancelled and then re-scheduled for April and we had to pull the pin. Crushed.

I’m not saying Lionel’s teetering on the perch, or that my life will be incomplete if I never see him live, but it doesn’t pay to put these things off.

I might have convinced myself that I would get to see David Bowie live at some point in my life but that is fairly unlikely now.

Should Lionel swing past again on his retirement tour I’ll be there, front row, no more excuses.

Easy.
