Art exhibition great success for school
Napier Girls’ High School’s third annual Affordable Art Exhibition has raised more than $28,000.
The event in March featured artwork produced by 60 professional artists from around New Zealand, along with students.
Each piece was priced at $1000 or less.
This year saw the introduction of a pop-up gallery of artwork on sale for under $150, more professional artists involved overall, a return of the popular pop-up cafe and a selection of raffles.
Principal Dawn Ackroyd said the three-day fundraiser was a resounding success.
‘‘It was a great opportunity to invite the community into our school to enjoy the impressive art work on display.’’
The exhibition not only benefited the school and the wider community, it providing students with a range of real-life ‘‘behindthe-scenes’’ experiences.
Combined with the two previous exhibitions the events have raised nearly $80,000 for the school.
Planning for next year’s Affordable Art Exhibition is already under way.
