No new policies

The New Zealand Herald - - EDITORIAL & LETTERS -

Neither of the parties are stating any new policies. In National’s case all they appear to be promising are tweaks to existing policies and little or nothing for the future.

On the other hand Labour has presented a multitude of slogans and promises but express no detailed policies and how they plan to get there apart from stating they will establish committees to examine things to help them formulate policies. We all know about the committee that was set up to design a horse but ended up with a camel.

We must not continue to go back into the future. Long-term planning is essential if New Zealand is to succeed and neither party appears to be doing anything apart from planning to progress through to next weekend. Do not leave it to the unelected bureaucrats who all have their own agendas. Shaun Wilkinson, Mt Eden.
