An American law professor has been detained by Israeli police for allegedly trying to block Israeli troops in a West Bank village slated for demolition. Frank Romano, 66, is being held in Jerusalem and was to appear before an Israeli military court today. Romano was detained in the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, with two Palestinians after standing in front of heavy equipment to try to slow demolition work. The Israeli Supreme Court has given the green light for the army to raze the village and expel its 180 residents to make way for the building of settlements.
