Tax and oil

The Northern Advocate - - Opinion -

Surely we all knew what was going to happen with this Government: the word “tax” is engraved on their mindset. The idea is to hammer the worker and middle-ofthe-road employer who have worked their butts off all their lives to make good, then give it to those who haven’t, and try to tell us it will make a difference.

You can fool some of the people only some of the time, which brings me to a flash of recollection I had while contemplating my navel (though what relevance my navel had escapes me): one of the first things this lot did was cancel all “investigative” oil drilling licences of the same oil companies that supply us. That doesn’t seem very bright to me and do I detect a smidgen of scratch-my-back scenario — you work it out.
