Kaitaia get season off to strong start
With a new summer season now under way, the Kaitaia Croquet Club teams have so far been very successful in the various regional competitions.
Kaitaia won both sections of the annual Northland Croquet Day at Doubtless Bay last Saturday to claim the Kathleen Laybourn Trophy.
There was also a win over arch-rivals Kerikeri in the first round of the association interclub tournament recently, the club’s golf croquet juniors earned a draw against Kerikeri a few days later, and the golf croquet seniors won their interclub clash against Maungakaramea.
The club is now preparing for its season’s first major event, the annual Honda Tournament on Friday, October 19.
The Kaitaia Croquet Club team of Joe Carter, Drago Yelavich, Shirley Reed and George Smith triumphed over Maungakaramea in a recent interclub tournament.
