Another strike

The Northland Age - - Local News -

The Northland DHB’s anaesthetic technicians began their fourth strike at 7am yesterday, returning at 7am tomorrow, in support of a pay and conditions claim that their union, APEX, says is aimed at addressing a recruitment and retention crisis. More than 30 per cent of positions were vacant, union secretary Dr Deborah Powell said, necessitating additional shifts and overtime. Surgeries had also had to be cancelled. Private sector pay rates that were up to 30 per cent higher than the DHB’s were exacerbating the problem, she added.
