The fol­low­ing mo­tions will be con­sid­ered at the Hor­ti­cul­ture New Zealand An­nual Gen­eral Meet­ing (AGM) be­ing held at the ASB Bay­park, Tau­ranga on Wed­nes­day 12 July 2017 at 4.30 pm.

Mo­tion 4 That the levy rate for the pur­poses of the Com­mod­ity Levies (Veg­eta­bles and Fruit) Or­der 2013 for the year start­ing 1 Oc­to­ber 2017 and fin­ish­ing 30 Septem­ber 2018 be re­duced to and set at 0.14% for veg­eta­bles and fruit cal­cu­lated from the gross sales value at the first point of sale OR for prod­uct ex­ported the FOB value OR where the prod­uct is pro­cessed be­fore the first point of sale the no­tional process value.

Ex­plana­tory Note The Com­mod­ity Levies (Veg­eta­bles and Fruit) Or­der 2013 al­lows a max­i­mum rate for veg­eta­bles and fruit at 0.15% of the gross sales value at the first point of sale OR for prod­uct ex­ported the FOB value OR where the prod­uct is pro­cessed be­fore the first point of sale the no­tional process value. At the AGM grow­ers may set any rate up to the max­i­mum for the next levy year which runs from 1 Oc­to­ber 2017 to 30 Septem­ber 2018.

The cur­rent rate for veg­eta­bles and fruit is 0.15%. The Board hav­ing re­viewed the fi­nan­cial po­si­tion of HortNZ, and its on-go­ing com­mit­ments, rec­om­mends and pro­poses that this be re­duced to 0.14% for the next levy year. Each year this rate is re­viewed and the Board may pro­pose in­creases or de­creases up to the per­mit­ted max­i­mum of 0.15%.

The Board rec­om­mends that the levy rate be re­duced to 0.14% for the year end­ing 30 Septem­ber 2018 to meet the com­mit­ments iden­ti­fied in HortNZ’s Bud­get.

Mo­tion 5 That di­rec­tors’ re­mu­ner­a­tion be in­creased by 2.2 per­cent, in-line with the CPI in­fla­tion rate tak­ing ef­fect from 1 April 2017.
