Re­port­ing rules put time de­lay on price data

Re­port­ing on price and vol­ume of fruit will be bet­ter next year af­ter the rules around how it has to be done have been clar­i­fied.

Ad­dress­ing this years New Zealand Cit­rus Grow­ers con­fer­ence, ex­ec­u­tive man­ager Re­becca Fisher said in­for­ma­tion had been scant as NZCGI sought le­gal clar­i­fi­ca­tion around new rules in­tro­duced by the Com­merce Com­mis­sion.

“The ad­vice we have re­ceived is that while we can dis­trib­ute vol­ume data in real time, price data for man­darins, lemons and navels can’t be dis­trib­uted un­til it is three months old,” she said.

“This year’s de­lays have been frus­trat­ing but we can con­firm that we will have the new re­port­ing rules in place for next year.”
