Look who’s talk­ing at Infocus Welling­ton 2016

The NZIPP’s an­nual Infocus con­fer­ence will be held this year in Welling­ton over June 16–20. The speak­ers that have been an­nounced so far are Su­sana Bar­bara, who is an in­ter­na­tional ref­er­ence in documentary wed­ding pho­tog­ra­phy; Vicky Pa­pas Ver­gara, who is the brain­child be­hind the brand Ver­gara, which brings to­gether her skills in pho­tog­ra­phy, paint­ing, cre­at­ing wear­able art, and styling; Troy Goodall, who is ranked in Lürzer’s Archive top-200 ad­ver­tis­ing pho­tog­ra­phers world­wide; James Simmons, known for his fine-art and wed­ding pho­tog­ra­phy; Niki Boon, who fo­cuses her pho­tog­ra­phy on her fam­ily, life­style, and lo­cal en­vi­ron­ments; Grant Shee­han, two-time win­ner of the New Zealand Travel Pho­tog­ra­pher of the Year; and Jonathan Suck­ling, who started on his wed­ding pho­tog­ra­phy ven­ture in 2014, at age 18.

The 2016 Iris Pro­fes­sional Pho­tog­ra­phy Awards is or­ga­nized by the NZIPP ev­ery year, and has run for the last 30 years. The judg­ing of the awards is to be held in con­junc­tion with Infocus Welling­ton 2016, and the ex­hi­bi­tion of fi­nal­ists and win­ners, which is held dur­ing the event, de­liv­ers an an­nual show­case of cut­ting-edge im­agery and pho­to­graphic ta­lent — the images are judged in an open fo­rum over three days (this year from June 16 to 18), and the best ones en­tered are awarded Gold, Sil­ver, and Bronze.
