EVENT: PSNZ 64th Na­tional Con­ven­tion April 22–25

The 2016 PSNZ Na­tional Con­ven­tion, this year ti­tled Caught in the Mo­ment, is be­ing hosted by the Queen­stown Pho­tog­ra­phy Club, with the na­tional ex­hi­bi­tion or­ga­nized by the South­land Pho­to­graphic So­ci­ety. The event will be held at Re­mark­ables School, Frank­ton Arm, Queen­stown, and pre­sen­ters will in­clude An­dris Apse, who will speak on land­scapes; Graeme Mur­ray, who will dis­cuss ad­ven­ture pho­tog­ra­phy; and Nick Rains, who will talk about travel and documentary pho­tog­ra­phy. EVENT: World Pin­hole Pho­tog­ra­phy Day April 24

World Pin­hole Pho­tog­ra­phy Day is cel­e­brated in­ter­na­tion­ally on the last Sun­day of April, with this year’s cel­e­bra­tion fall­ing on April 24. The event fo­cuses on tak­ing a step back from all the tech­nol­ogy that pho­tog­ra­phy of­fers th­ese days to take part in the act of cre­at­ing a pin­hole pho­to­graph and up­load­ing it to the event’s web­site for the world to see. EX­HI­BI­TION: Faces of Jerusalem Un­til May 1

Ilan Wit­ten­berg’s com­pelling col­lec­tion of por­traits shows the cul­ture and the at­mos­phere of the Old City of Jerusalem. The col­lec­tion, com­bined and show­cased as the ex­hi­bi­tion Faces of Jerusalem, is on dis­play at Auck­land’s Te Uru Waitakere Con­tem­po­rary Gallery and is open to the pub­lic. Con­tact:

WORK­SHOP: How to Make Bet­ter Pho­to­graphic Prints May 7

AIPA Photo Academy will host a four-hour work­shop for pro­fes­sional and semi-pro pho­tog­ra­phers in­ter­ested in print­ing their work to a high stan­dard. Par­tic­i­pants will get ad­vice from the ex­perts re­gard­ing colour man­age­ment, pa­per han­dling, and inkjet print­ing. This year’s edi­tion of the Sigma D-Photo Ama­teur Pho­tog­ra­pher of the Year com­pe­ti­tion fea­tures a vast ar­ray of cat­e­gories ap­peal­ing to all ama­teur pho­tog­ra­phers in New Zealand. EVENT: 2016 Auck­land Fes­ti­val of Pho­tog­ra­phy June 2–24

The dates for the an­nual Auck­land Fes­ti­val of Pho­tog­ra­phy event have been con­firmed, and so has the re­vival of the 24-hour Auck­land Photo Day that was can­celled last year. This year’s An­nual Com­mis­sion pho­tog­ra­pher has been con­firmed as Russ Flatt, who will ex­hibit at Silo 6 at Wyn­yard Quar­ter dur­ing the event.
