Rangi Ruru Pre-school is a small family-orientated community-based preschool for boys and girls, located in the leafy grounds of Rangi Ruru Girls’ School in Merivale.
All teaching staff are fully qualified, registered teachers specialising in the care and education of children aged from 2 years to school age, and the preschool offers 20 hours ECE.
Teachers are responsive to children’s individual interests, strengths and abilities. They listen closely to children, support them to develop oral language skills and share their ideas. Teachers encourage children to solve problems and find their own solutions to challenges.
Rangi Ruru teachers provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for children and families. There’s a variety of activities which include the children working together or focusing on individual projects. Literacy and numeracy are woven into the daily programme activities so they become indistinguishable from the fun and play.
The pre-school and the children are fortunate to be located on the grounds of Rangi Ruru Girls’ School, and are extremely well supported as part of the wider school community. This means that a large number of activities, resources, and school premises (such as the gym, library – which has a dedicated preschool area – and the science and drama areas) are available to add to the programme. Parents can also subscribe to optional activities.
Pre-school is a time for children to develop new skills and ideas in an environment where they feel confident and safe to do so. Rangi Ruru Pre-school provides this and so much more, giving your child the opportunity to hit the ground running when they begin the new adventure of primary school.
Limited places are available now or pre-enrol for 2017. Opening hours are 8.15am – 4.30pm. The pre-school is located at 46 Rhodes St, off Rossall St, at the Hagley Park end.
