Diver’s body found

The body of a 60-year-old diver has been recovered from Momorangi Bay in Queen Charlotte Sound. The local man was reported overdue at noon yesterday and the police dive squad was dispatched from Wellington to search for him. The body was recovered at 7pm and the death will be referred to the coroner. The man was diving in about 12 metres of water and it was understood he was clearing a boat mooring line at Momorangi Bay. Coastguard Marlboroug­h president Dick Chapman said they were called to the scene by police at 12.15pm. They were stood down at 2pm when police took control of the scene.
