Bureaucrats vs businesses

The Press - - Perspective -

I have just driven down the CBD one-way system going south and I guarantee the council won’t be getting much revenue from motorists exceeding the 30kmh speed limit.

You can’t do more than 10kmh for most of the time. It also looks that there will be very restricted parking. I pity the businesses in the area.

Council staff who dream up these ideas for cycle lanes and narrow streets in front of shops and office blocks that require foot traffic should be forced to put their own money into the shops etc and see the effect their ideas have on returns.

It’s easy to help the many pressure groups that abound these days and forget that others are trying to make a living. R Lucas Papanui
