Search and Rescue sent in a helicopter for two tourists stuck on the Pisa range yesterday. SAR Wanaka chairman Bill Day said two volunteers found the ‘‘scared tourists’’ exhausted, one of them on the brink of hypothermia in his bivi bag. The rescue team dropped them back at their car as they had no injuries. They had started their ski tour trip at Snow Farm earlier but ‘‘the day got the better of them’’, Day said. The tourists activated their beacon at 3.30 pm and the helicopter took off at 3.50, Day said.
