Tourists res­cued

Search and Res­cue sent in a he­li­copter for two tourists stuck on the Pisa range yes­ter­day. SAR Wanaka chair­man Bill Day said two vol­un­teers found the ‘‘scared tourists’’ ex­hausted, one of them on the brink of hy­pother­mia in his bivi bag. The res­cue team dropped them back at their car as they had no in­juries. They had started their ski tour trip at Snow Farm ear­lier but ‘‘the day got the bet­ter of them’’, Day said. The tourists ac­ti­vated their bea­con at 3.30 pm and the he­li­copter took off at 3.50, Day said.
