Hate doesn’t inspire
Headlines like ‘‘Hate vs Hate’’ (July 29) may be tongue in cheek, but some people only read the big letters. I am all for competitive sport but the word hate doesn’t belong in this context. No wonder our children and young parents are confused. Hate on the field, love off the field. We are all winners except when we aren’t.
Don’t compete at school but you must be the top of the class. Don’t take risks but learn by your mistakes. What confused messages we give to our kids. Is it any wonder our society has problems? Rob Hungerford St Albans
