Greens already prepared for coalition bargaining
Green Party co-leader James Shaw said he would push a Labour government to enact a capital gains tax – again excluding the family home – as soon as possible during coalition talks. ‘‘We do have a real sense of urgency around the housing crisis,’’ Shaw said. But both Labour leader Jacinda Ardern and the possible third head of that coalition, Winston Peters, ruled the idea out immediately. Ardern would not comment on which areas she would be willing to give ground on in coalition talks.
