English experiences his own Ground-Dog Day
There have been endless stories about politicians hugging and kissing babies – as they do. But dogs are a bit of a thing too. At La Cigale market in Auckland’s Parnell yesterday, it was Dog-Day Morning – no, make that Ground-dog Day – as Bill English patted, petted and posed with pooches. From Epsom MP Paul Goldsmith’s dog, Langer, to a mean mutt called Sherman – as in the tank – they were all there. There was also a large specimen that English ominously noted ‘‘liked journalists’’.
