Prime MinisterBill English will not visit Waitangi again on Waitangi Day if reelected – unless major changes are made. ‘‘As I indicated last year, after I became prime minister, it was my view that Waitangi Day did not represent well the history of partnership between Maori and Pakeha in New Zealand,’’ he said, suggesting he might have it ‘‘on the road’’. Labour leader Jacinda Ardern said she would go but did not criticise English’s position.
