New high for election campaigning?

The Press - - Perspective -

I thought this would make a great article: ‘‘God repositions election sign’’.

One of two Labour Party election hoardings screwed to the fence at the corner of Turners and Spencerville roads was repositioned perfectly during Friday’s gust.

It must have gone straight up 15 metres and about 6 metres north.

Permission will be asked of the Electoral Commission to allow God to take this one down in Her own time – before or after the election on Saturday, as I hate heights.

The moral to the story is when washers have been purchased to be used with the screws, then use them. Tim Baker Aranui

In need of Greens

Seems it’s time for another round of ‘‘empty promises to make amends for decades of orchestrated inaction on climate change’’, aka the general election.

I’m gutted that the Greens have managed to self-sabotage when they are so badly needed.

They, alone, had seemed to understand that, for once, we face a single issue that outweighs even such burning questions as inequality despite a vibrant economy. Andrew Troup Christchurch
