New Zealand on board to tackle ag pol­lu­tion at COP23

New Zealand has endorsed the Bonn Com­mu­nique on ‘‘tack­ling air pol­lu­tion to save lives and pro­tect the en­vi­ron­ment’’. The COP23 state­ment fo­cuses on ‘‘su­per pol­lu­tant’’ short-lived gases that cause air pol­lu­tion and cli­mate change, like meth­ane. En­dors­ing it recog­nised the ‘‘im­por­tant role’’ New Zealand played in tack­ling agri­cul­tural emis­sions, said Cli­mate Change Min­is­ter James Shaw. It was crit­i­cal to ad­dress­ing cli­mate change, he said from the COP23 con­fer­ence in Ger­many.
