Rank­ings boost

The All Whites have moved up 10 spots in the lat­est Fifa rank­ings fol­low­ing their World Cup qual­i­fy­ing de­mo­li­tion of the Solomon Is­lands. New Zealand ad­vanced to a two-leg in­ter­con­ti­nen­tal play­off against the yet-to-be-con­firmed fifth­placed South Amer­i­can team for a berth at Rus­sia 2018 af­ter beat­ing the Solomons 8-3 on ag­gre­gate, with a 6-1 win and 2-2 draw. The All Whites now sit 113th in the world, sand­wiched be­tween Oman and St Kitts and Ne­vis. World cham­pi­ons Ger­many pushed Brazil back into sec­ond place to re­turn to the top of the rank­ings and Euro­pean cham­pi­ons Por­tu­gal climbed three places to sit in third spot over­all.
