Police warn farmers to watch for thieves
Southland police are warning farmers to be vigilant during daylight saving hours. Senior Sergeant Cynthia Fairley said with the increase in daylight hours and farmers tied up with calving, lambing and milking, it was an opportune time for criminals to take advantage of any lapse in security on farms. She asked people to look out for their neighbours and the community, and let police know if anything or anyone looked out of place. Farmers should also ensure tanks were secure and locked, not leave firearms in vehicles and remove keys and lock vehicles when not in use. Check police.govt.nz/rural for more useful advice.
