Police were called to a Balfour address in Southland on Thursday night to investigate a burglary that apparently took place before the occupant’s eyes. A Queen St resident reported that they saw their garage entered by a person who proceeded to take items, a police spokesperson said. What they took was not yet clear. When questioned the alleged offender apparently made threats and left the scene but came back with more people. It was not yet clear whether more items were taken. Police were called at about 6.50pm but the group had left. It was possibly a civil property issue, the police spokesperson said. Police visited a related address, but no arrests were made. Inquiries are continuing.
