Volunteers will hit South Canterbury streets in full force on Friday and Saturday for the 2017 Pink Ribbon Appeal. The Pink Ribbon Appeal is a yearly appeal run by the Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand to raise money and awareness for those who are affected by breast cancer. Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand chief executive Evangelia Henderson said there would be dozens of volunteers on the streets of Timaru, and across South Canterbury, collecting donations from members of the public. She said each donation contributed towards the long term goal of ‘‘zero deaths from breast cancer’’. She said if people did not have loose change on the day, they could text PINK to 4499 to make a $3 donation. Volunteers in South Canterbury will be at the Church St Countdown in Timaru, the Fairlie Four Square, Geraldine Fresh Choice, Highfield Mall New World in Timaru, the Pleasant Point Four Square, Urban Cafe in Timaru, Mitre 10 Mega Timaru, and four new locations on Stafford St,Timaru - outside Ballantynes, Farmers, Jay Jay’s and Copper Bar.
