Vol­un­teers will hit South Can­ter­bury streets in full force on Fri­day and Saturday for the 2017 Pink Rib­bon Ap­peal. The Pink Rib­bon Ap­peal is a yearly ap­peal run by the Breast Cancer Foun­da­tion New Zealand to raise money and aware­ness for those who are af­fected by breast cancer. Breast Cancer Foun­da­tion New Zealand chief ex­ec­u­tive Evan­gelia Hen­der­son said there would be dozens of vol­un­teers on the streets of Ti­maru, and across South Can­ter­bury, col­lect­ing do­na­tions from mem­bers of the pub­lic. She said each do­na­tion contributed to­wards the long term goal of ‘‘zero deaths from breast cancer’’. She said if peo­ple did not have loose change on the day, they could text PINK to 4499 to make a $3 do­na­tion. Vol­un­teers in South Can­ter­bury will be at the Church St Countdown in Ti­maru, the Fair­lie Four Square, Geral­dine Fresh Choice, High­field Mall New World in Ti­maru, the Pleas­ant Point Four Square, Ur­ban Cafe in Ti­maru, Mitre 10 Mega Ti­maru, and four new lo­ca­tions on Stafford St,Ti­maru - out­side Bal­lan­tynes, Farmers, Jay Jay’s and Cop­per Bar.
