Latham to lead Durham in county one-dayers
Black Caps batsman Tom Latham will get another taste of captaincy when leading Durham in England’s domestic 50-over competition this year.
Latham skippered New Zealand during their one-day international tri-series against Ireland and Bangladesh last year in Ireland and was acting ODI captain against the West Indies in December when Kane Williamson and Tim Southee were being rested.
Durham confirmed yesterday that Latham would re-join them during their 2018 season while also announcing the signing of South African opener Aiden Markram.
The 25-year-old Cantabrian lefthander returns to Durham after scoring 382 runs at an average of 63.67 in the County Championship last year. He will captain the side in England’s One-Day Cup.
Latham, who is also New Zealand’s wicketkeeper in ODIs, found form with the bat again with his knock of 79 during the thrilling three-wicket win over England in Sunday’s ODI in Hamilton.
