Fox out of the hunt

New Zealand’s top male golfer, Ryan Fox, has tumbled out of the Victorian Open after a disastrous third round on Saturday saw him miss the second cut. The European Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia-sanctioned event at 13th Beach Golf Links is unique for featuring a cut after both the second and third rounds, and Fox was left one shot off featuring in today’s final round, having undone his fine start to the event. After posting a six-under par 66 in Thursday’s opening round to be in a tie for 15th, Fox’s strong start to the year continued with a second round 68 then having him tied for ninth, still four shots off the lead. But that all gave way on Saturday, when the 32-year-old struck a triple bogey on the parfour 13th and a double bogey on the par-five 18th – in carding a four-over 76, as high winds and some heavy rain made for a trickier outing.
