3 new cases

Three cases of coronaviru­s were announced yesterday.

It came as Auckland experience­d its first day back in alert level 2.

All three cases are in managed isolation.

The three new cases are all separate returnees who arrived from the United States on September 18.

One case travelled from London via Dubai on September 16 and the others from Croatia via Frankfurt and Dubai on September 18.

Two are in quarantine in Auckland. The third case is in quarantine in Rotorua.

Three people are in hospital with coronaviru­s. One is at Auckland City Hospital, one is at Middlemore Hospital and one is at North Shore Hospital.

Since August 11, the Ministry of Health’s contact tracing team has identified 4044 close contacts of cases, of which 4025 have been contacted and are selfisolat­ing or have completed self-isolation. The ministry is in the process of contacting the rest.

New Zealand’s total number of active cases is 65. Thirty-one are imported cases in managed isolation facilities, and 34 are community cases.

Laboratori­es processed 6142 tests on Wednesday, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 930,779.
