The Timaru Herald - - World -

A pregnant woman whose husband was attacked by a large bull shark dived from a boat into the blood-filled water and pulled him to safety. Margot Dukes, 29, was floating in a small boat over a reef in the Florida Keys when she saw the shark attack Andrew Eddy. The couple had gone out on the boat with Duke’s parents, her sister and her sister’s boyfriend. It was mid- morning and other boats transporting snorkellers were floating over the reef. But the family had not seen anyone fishing or throwing bait into the water, Dukes said, according to Christopher Aguanno, a deputy at the Monroe County sheriff’s office. Her father, sister and sister’s boyfriend went into the water to snorkel. Then her husband jumped into the sea. Eddy, 30, ‘‘was immediately attacked by an 8 to 9 foot bull shark that was reported to be in the area by other boaters’’, the deputy reported.
