Brides line up for pageant fundraiser

If you were mar­ried in Manawatu be­tween Au­gust 1, 2014, and July 31, 2015; if you were born here, lived here, stud­ied here, mar­ried some­one from here, or even set­tled here af­ter the wed­ding, you can en­ter the Som­er­set Kinder­gar- ten Bride of the Year show.

Pageant co­or­di­na­tor Mar­lene Ab­bot says ter­rific com­mu­nity and spon­sor sup­port means there are won­der­ful prizes for the top three placeget­ters, bride’s choice and au­di­ence choice win­ners along with gift bags for the brides, raf­fles and auc­tions.

‘‘We also have some lovely kinder­garten fairies and page­boys who will ap­pear on stage be­side the beau­ti­ful brides, re­mind­ing the au­di­ence of the rea­son for the event, and to bring a def­i­nite cute fac­tor into the evening.’’

The kinder­garten’s main an­nual fundraiser, the money raised from this year’s show on Mon­day, Septem­ber 7, in the Re­gent on Broad­way, is go­ing to­wards up­grad­ing and re­fur­bish­ing the kinder­garten build­ing.
