Research shows that during the cold and gloom of winter, we benefit from getting out more.

While it’s tempting, and more or less traditional to stay hunkered down comfortable and cosy, it is better for us mentally, physically and socially to make the effort to be out and active.

Palmerston North is blessed with plenty of opportunities to walk or ride; accessible playgrounds and activities, parks and sportsgrounds, courts, and stadiums; a plentitude of movies, plays, concerts and performances; ongoing displays, exhibitions and events; cafes, restaurants and places to hang.

It’s why the organisers of the weekend’s rock show and the midwinter concert in The Square deserve congratulations for widening our horizons, while providing us with additional midwinter reasons to sojourn in our own city.
