Plunket still sitting pretty

The Tribune (NZ) - - News -

During May, the Esplanade Scenic Railway ran a Manawatu Plunket car seat promotion.

The railway’s vice president, Grant Taylor, says the plan was to donate a percentage of takings from the ride to Plunket while helping to promote the car seat scheme and other services.

‘‘This ran in conjunction with our freshly painted pink carriage, signwritten with Plunket logos. We raised a total of $611.48.’’

The railway also dedicated an open day to Plunket.

Plunket’s area car seat manager Veronica Fieldsend says it’s important for parents to realise that despite national office announcing the scheme would no longer be a priority from next year, the local branch is still providing the service.

‘‘It’s still business as usual. There’s no change to car seat rentals or sales. We’re open Monday – Friday 10am – 2pm and Saturdays 10am – 12 noon.’’

The railway money will be put towards staff attending ante-natal courses in Palmerston North and Feilding,’’ Veronica says.
