The cream of New Zealand’s young jazz musicians are about to blow you away at the Globe Theatre next week.
The 18-piece New Zealand Youth Jazz Orchestra on their New Zealand tour with American trumpet soloist Scott Wendholt and Christchurch vocalist Ella Dunbar-Wilcox, are giving one concert on Tuesday, July 21 at 7.30pm .
Under the direction of Rodger Fox and Dave Lisik, senior lecturers at the New Zealand School of Music, the young musicians will performa cross-section of big band music from jazz standards to original compositions with arrangements from their guest artist, New York trumpeter Scott Wendholt.
‘‘Scott is a huge talent,’’ Rodger says. ‘‘He’s a member of the top New York big band, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.’’
