James French from PNBHS is a mem­ber of the New Zealand Youth Jazz Or­ches­tra play­ing at the Globe next Tues­day.

The cream of New Zealand’s young jazz mu­si­cians are about to blow you away at the Globe Theatre next week.

The 18-piece New Zealand Youth Jazz Or­ches­tra on their New Zealand tour with Amer­i­can trum­pet soloist Scott Wend­holt and Christchurch vo­cal­ist Ella Dun­bar-Wil­cox, are giv­ing one con­cert on Tues­day, July 21 at 7.30pm .

Un­der the di­rec­tion of Rodger Fox and Dave Lisik, se­nior lec­tur­ers at the New Zealand School of Mu­sic, the young mu­si­cians will per­forma cross-sec­tion of big band mu­sic from jazz stan­dards to orig­i­nal com­po­si­tions with ar­range­ments from their guest artist, New York trum­peter Scott Wend­holt.

‘‘Scott is a huge tal­ent,’’ Rodger says. ‘‘He’s a mem­ber of the top New York big band, the Vanguard Jazz Or­ches­tra.’’
