CAR CRIME CLIMBS

The Tribune (NZ) - - CONVERSATIONS -

Police are telling us that the number of thefts from cars in Palmerston North is unacceptably high. The majority of these are occurring around the CBD.

If you are going to be parking and leaving your car, please ensure you take your valuables with you. If that is not possible make sure they are hidden from sight prior to leaving home or wherever you have driven from.

If your car is fitted with an alarm, activate it. Be aware of people just sitting in parked cars in public parking areas. If you are concerned about anyone who looks suspicious, who is walking around parked cars or sitting in a parked car for no apparent reason, take down the details and call the police. Help keep your stuff safe. Watch, think, act.

Using your car seat as a shelf for your valuables is an invitation to thieves.
