Here come the brides of the year

The Tribune (NZ) - - NEWS -

This week is the last opportunity for Manawatu brides to make more of their wedding day.

Entries for Somerset Kindergarten’s annual Bride of the Year pageant close this Friday.

Open to anyone who has links and connections with Manawatu, so long as they tied the knot between August 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015. That means anyone who was born here, lived here, studied here, married someone from here, or settled here after the wedding.

The show takes place in the Regent on Broadway on Monday, September 7.

Pageant co-ordinator Marlene Abbot says there’s excellent community and sponsor support for the event with great prizes for the top three placegetters, bride’s choice and audience choice winners, along with gift bags for the brides, as well as raffles and auctions for the audience.

For a last-minute entry pack, email Somerset Kindergarten at somerset, phone 354 3585, or call at the kindergarten on Somerset Cres. The Facebook page is ‘‘Somerset Kindergarten Bride of the Year’’.

2014’s winner was Hayley Groombridge, with Brooke Guy in second place, Rebecca Conchie in third, while the audience vote went to Erin Smith.
