Vol­un­teers needed

ADNZ ur­gently re­quires Palmer­ston North vol­un­teers for In­ter­na­tional As­sis­tance Dogs’ week and na­tional ap­peal. Col­lec­tors are needed on Fri­day and Satur­day Au­gust 7-8. Vol­un­teers should con­tact Wendy Isaacs on wendy@as­sis­tance dogstrust.org.nz, or text/phone 022 137409. A char­i­ta­ble trust since 2008 ADNZ has 25 work­ing dogs through­out the coun­try and aims to train eight to 10 more a year for all types of dis­abil­ity from di­a­betic alert to autism. Like guide dogs for the blind, as­sis­tance dogs have le­gal public ac­cess in­side build­ings such as hos­pi­tals and shop­ping cen­tres. Voda­fone cus­tomers can text 7005 to do­nate $5, or 7010 to do­nate $10, with other do­na­tions and puppy spon­sor­ships ac­cepted at as­sis­tance­dogstrust.org.nz.
