Lloyd Spiegel brings the blues to town

Mel­bourne based blues­man Lloyd Spiegel is one of Aus­tralia’s lead­ing blues ex­po­nents and highly re­spected gui­tarists.

This ‘‘ver­i­ta­ble force to be reck­oned with’’ is head­ing to Palmer­ston North, play­ing Cafe Royale in Square Edge next Thurs­day, Septem­ber 10.

Renowned for his com­mand of the guitar, pow­er­ful voice, show­man­ship and high energy per­for­mance, Lloyd is guar­an­teed to cap­ti­vate any au­di­ence.

Ex­ten­sive tours of Aus­tralia, es­pe­cially for the 2010/11 al­bum re­lease of Tan­gled Brew, re­sulted in rave re­views, full houses, three Vic­to­rian blues awards and a host of new fans.

The Aussie blues­man has made fre­quent vis­its to Ger­many, Italy and Ja­pan and has clocked up six coast-to-coast tours of the USA. In the States he has per­formed at some of the world’s best known blues venues and fes­ti­vals, shar­ing stage time with the likes of BB King, Buddy Guy, Etta James and Ray Charles. He’s also sought af­ter for non-blues gigs hav­ing played for con­certs by Bob Dy­lan, Peter Framp­ton and Wil­lie Nel­son.

Lloyd has briefly vis­ited New Zealand be­fore but never played in Palmer­ston North, mak­ing his Manawatu de­but at Square Edge next Thurs­day from 7-9.30pm. Tick­ets are $20 at the door, with a pre-show din­ner op­tion avail­able by book­ing at Cafe Royale on 354 7479.
