Winner 2014

The Tribune (NZ) - - BRIDE OF THE YEAR 2015 -

It took a little bit of coaxing from a friend, but last year’s Somerset Bride of the Year winner Hayley Groombridge was glad she entered the contest.

Initially, Hayley said she wasn’t keen on putting her name forward, but a friend had entered and talked her into taking part.

‘‘It was really quite fun taking part in the Bride of the Year. You met other girls who had just got married and you talked about their wedding day and of course it was great to be able to wear your wedding gown again,’’ Hayley said. ‘‘Also it was something different to do. ‘‘It was amazing to see all the brides together and all looking so amazing. And to be chosen as the winner was even more amazing.’’

As last year’s winner Hayley is one of the judges this year and she says she will enjoy meeting and talking to this year’s brides.

The prizes Hayley received for winning Bride of the Year included vouchers from a number of local businesses as well as a hamper of goodies. But for Hayley the real reward was the friendships she has formed with some of the other brides.

‘‘I’ve kept in contact with some of the other girls, we’ve got a coffee group going. We get on well and are all at the same stage of life.’’

Entering Bride of the Year is something Hayley highly recommends.
