The Tribune (NZ) - - WELCOME -

Generosity. I’ve banged on about it from time to time. And here I go again. Palmerston North has not just topped the 2015 Trustpower Community Awards for nominations, it’s smashed the 2012 record out of the park.

Once a year, these volunteers , their ongoing benevolence, the organisations they support, and the work they do hit the headlines.

While there are category winners and an overall winner who will represent the city on the national stage early next year, the real winner is ‘us’.

Many of the things we take for granted happen because this behind-the-scenes volunteer army tirelessly make them happen.

That same spirit of generosity was on show again at Monrad Intermediate at the weekend with an outpouring of support and aroha for the family tragically affected by last week’s fatal housefire.

Who makes a place worth living in? You and I do.
