Make a splash at Aquatic Centre these holidays
The Lido Aquatic Centre is gearing up for summer with the opening of its fantastic hydroslides.
The Super bowl, the Speed Slide as well as the Aqua Play area will all be open again to the public on Saturday, September 26, just in time for the school holidays.
Everyone who takes the plunge on the slides during the school holidays will be given a $6 Slide Return card for their next visit before the end of November.
Lido Aquatic Centre manager Lynden Noakes says that for addicted slide riders the Lido now has five ride cards available for $49.95 and these are valid right through the summer.
School holidays also marks the start of the Chill Out Holiday Programme with the usual mix of fun activities based at the Lido Aquatic Centre, as well as a number of exciting trips planned.
‘‘These holidays the children have the option of a day trip to Wellington which includes a visit to Te Papa. We’re also going over to Masterton where we’ll try out their pools, play some mini golf and burn off some energy on the adventure playground.’’
Lynden says children also have the option of trips to Bowlarama, Daytona and Downtown Cinemas, as well as exploring The Esplanade’s new playground.
To sign up for the Holiday Programme and to find out more about all the exciting activities visit their website: www.lidoaquaticcentre.co.nz.
Swim Magic will be holding an intensive programme of lessons over the school holidays to help give children a kick start in their swimming. During the first week from the September 28 to October 2 there will be group lessons and then during the second week parents have the option of giving their children one-on-one lessons with their swimming coach.
The cost for the first week is $70 and includes free pool entry, while private lessons are $20 per session.

The Lido Aquatic Centre is also an extremely popular place on Friday nights with its fun Wave Rave discos.
These run regularly throughout the year from 7pm till 9pm and are for children aged between 8 and 16.
These holidays, on Friday, October 9, the Wave Rave becomes the Beach Ball Day Rave, starting at 10am and running through till 4pm.
‘‘The theme for the Day Rave is fun at the beach so children can get dressed up in their beach wear and join in with the games and competitions,’’ says Lynden.
‘‘The DJ will be here and their will be plenty of give-aways throughout the day,’’ says Lynden.
He also points out that they are currently running a competition where everyone who goes to the Friday night Wave Raves goes in the draw to win a big screen TV and an X-Box.
The Lido not only provides action-packed holiday and after school programmes, it is also a great place for the whole family to enjoy a day out.
Indoors the centre has a leisure pool and two smaller hydroslides, as well as a 25m lane pool, a complete gym, sauna, steam room and spa.
With the outdoor hydroslides opening for the season, this makes the Lido Aquatic Centre the ideal place for an action-packed holiday experience.
The Lido Aquatic Centre’s Hydroslide and Aqua Play area will be opening again for the new season on September 26.
