Michael Houstoun bringing back Bach
Regent on Broadway co-patron Michael Houstoun is about to ‘Bring back Bach’. Johann Sebastian is (ahem) embarking on a musical journey with Michael aboard the Regent on Broadway grand.
Michael Houstoun: Inspired by Bach, the Chamber Music New Zealand programme from New Zealand’s own keyboard great, explores Bach’s music through piano transcriptions – the pianoforte hadn’t been invented when Bach composed his pieces – homages and with the specially commissioned Fugue for Piano, a new work from Kiwi composer Ross Harris.
That will play alongside Bach’s Partita No 1 in B flat, Lilburn’s Chaconne (in recognition of the composer’s centenary) and masterpieces by
