The Tribune (NZ) - - NEWS - – Richard

Two stories this week underline the quality of this community. The 288 nominations for the 2015 Trustpower Palmerston North Community Awards, and the 1500 names put forward for the 2015 Sport Manawatu Grassroots Sports Awards.

In terms of community commitment, not just in Palmerston north, but across the wider Manawatu region, this is huge. And these are just the people who were nominated for their selfless service.

There are many hundreds of others who turn up to do their bit for charities, trusts, organisations and sports teams who don’t think they’re doing anything special.

What they are involved in and the work they do for others is simply an expression of who they are – no acknowledgement necessary, really. Except that it is. And good on Trustpower and Sport Manawatu for providing this level of recognition.
