Rescue helo’s Coast to Coast ride
For 22 years the Woodville Lions Suzuki Coast to Coast motorcycle ride has helped keep Palmerston North’s Rescue Helicopter service aloft. The Helicopter Trust’s longest continuous fund-raising event has raised in excess of $160,000.
This years proceeds go towards the purchase of a new Zoll defibrillator.
The scenic ride from Himatangi Beach on the west coast to Akitio on the east, takes place on Saturday, December 12.
Registration is $20 for the badged ride which kicks off at 9.15am outside the Himatangi Beach Cosmopolitan Club.
Shepherded by the NZ Police Highway Patrol, it traces through the back roads of Horowhenua, Manawatu and Tararua to Woodville in time to tag onto the annual Woodville Christmas Parade and lunch in the town’s Fountaine Square.
From there it’s via Mangatainoka, Makuri and Pongaroa to finish at Akitio, with prize-giving, spot prizes and a charity auction
Overnight accommodation is available at the Akitio Community Centre and the Akitio Beach Camping Ground. Advance site and food bookings are available on 06 374 3450 or 06 376 6236.
