Res­cue helo’s Coast to Coast ride

For 22 years the Woodville Li­ons Suzuki Coast to Coast mo­tor­cy­cle ride has helped keep Palmer­ston North’s Res­cue He­li­copter ser­vice aloft. The He­li­copter Trust’s long­est con­tin­u­ous fund-rais­ing event has raised in ex­cess of $160,000.

This years pro­ceeds go to­wards the pur­chase of a new Zoll de­fib­ril­la­tor.

The scenic ride from Hi­matangi Beach on the west coast to Aki­tio on the east, takes place on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 12.

Reg­is­tra­tion is $20 for the badged ride which kicks off at 9.15am out­side the Hi­matangi Beach Cos­mopoli­tan Club.

Shep­herded by the NZ Po­lice High­way Pa­trol, it traces through the back roads of Horowhenua, Manawatu and Tararua to Woodville in time to tag onto the an­nual Woodville Christ­mas Pa­rade and lunch in the town’s Foun­taine Square.

From there it’s via Man­gatain­oka, Makuri and Pon­garoa to fin­ish at Aki­tio, with prize-giv­ing, spot prizes and a char­ity auc­tion
