Land­locked boat to float for pa­rade

The Feild­ing Santa pa­rade is on this Sun­day and Mur­ray’s Ir­ish Pub­lic House is get­ting set to float its boat.

There’s Ir­ish irony in this be­cause the float, a repli­ca­tion of a tra­di­tional Ir­ish cart­ing boat, is de­signed not to... float. Well at least, not on wa­ter. But it should float the streets as part of what lo­cals re­gard as the great­est com­mu­nity Christ­mas pa­rade in Manawatu.

Al­bert says the Ro­tary Club’s Christ­mas Cave is well worth a look too. The cave will be open for view­ing un­til Christ­mas Eve, daily from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Lit­tle The­atre in Stafford St and re­quires a gold coin do­na­tion.
