Landlocked boat to float for parade
The Feilding Santa parade is on this Sunday and Murray’s Irish Public House is getting set to float its boat.
There’s Irish irony in this because the float, a replication of a traditional Irish carting boat, is designed not to... float. Well at least, not on water. But it should float the streets as part of what locals regard as the greatest community Christmas parade in Manawatu.
Veteran float builder, designer, organiser, current councillor and proud patron of Murray’s, Albert James says the non-floating float project has been underway for two weeks, with many volunteer hours being put in by owners, particularly Noel Lyons, staff members and

The Feilding Christmas Carnival runs from 9am this Sunday 13 in Manchester Square, with the parade underway at 2pm.
Albert says the Rotary Club’s Christmas Cave is well worth a look too. The cave will be open for viewing until Christmas Eve, daily from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Little Theatre in Stafford St and requires a gold coin donation.
