Winds of change at Human Movements
When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, maintaining a trim figure and keeping fit many people will look for instant results and a quick fix, rather than setting long-term goals and then going on to achieve them.
Human Movements Fitness Centre, on Taonui Street, has been helping people set goals and achieve a life-long healthy lifestyle for more than 30 years.
Co-owner Marianne Poole says over the years Human Movements have provided a consistent approach to fitness.
‘‘With our personalised training programmes we look at progressive improvements that individuals can comfortably achieve. This ultimately results in our clients being able to maintain a healthy level of fitness that becomes an enjoyable part of their daily lives.’’
For Marianne and co-owner Jim Pitt, their zest for good health and fitness has not waned in the slightest since they have been open. One major reason is that they have always focused on providing a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome.
‘‘This is not a one size fits all fitness centre. We cater for each of our clients as individuals and all our clients appreciate that the other members are working towards their own goals.
This in turn leads to a supportive environment where many clients will become friends, says Marianne.
‘‘Most importantly, the fitness programmes are also a pleasurable experience and our feedback from clients is that because they enjoy their programmes it’s easy to be motivated and this is why they love coming to Human Movements.’’
And as Marianne says, for both Jim and herself, their passion lies in helping each of their clients achieve their goals regardless of their starting point.
‘‘You really have to experience it for yourself; that buzz you get when those natural endorphins kick in.’’
