Reduce stress and enjoy life to the full

The Tribune (NZ) - - YOUR BODY -

As the festive season approaches we often find ourselves getting a little stressed.

Whether we are working harder to get those jobs out of the way before the end of the year or whether we are preparing for family holidays or guests coming to stay, many of us can end up with stress related aches and pains, leading to headaches and even migraines.

Being able to relax is one way to reduce stress and is an important factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Massage is an excellent way to reduce stress and anxiety.

Pamper Me Massage and Beauty owner Maam Collis says massage provides not only relaxation for the body but also for the mind and spirit.

‘‘A relaxation massage makes you feel refreshed because not only does it relieve muscle tension, it will also help clear your mind, and afterwards you just feel so much more relaxed and revitalized, which makes life in general feel better.’’

Maam has been practising massage for just over a year and she uses a combination of Thai and European massage techniques to provide both relaxation and deep tissue massage for her clients.

‘‘I established Pamper Me just last month as it is so much more relaxing for both the client and me to be working from my home. I love being able to massage clients in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere,’’ says Maam.

Before your massage, Maam will ask where you feel the most tension, whether it’s centred on the lower back, neck, shoulders or even legs.

Maam will then customise her massage technique to give the most benefit to that particular area of your body.

Maam recommends an hour minimum for a regular massage until the pain is reduced and she adds that a longer booking can be made to help give full relief to a client’s aches and pains.

For a relaxation massage, Pamper Me Massage and Beauty charges between $49 and $59 per hour, depending on the time of your booking, and for a deep tissue massage the cost is $89 per hour.

Maam also offers a full make up service at variable prices, as well as make up lessons at $20 per hour for both beginners and more mature women.

Pamper Me also has vouchers available which would make a great gift idea for this time of the year.

Maam has a good mix of both male and female clients and she says some clients like to talk so they have a good
