Relay For Life push

The Tribune (NZ) - - NEWS -

Fifteen-time relay for life participants, team Living and Giving will host a charity gala day on Sunday to help it reach its $10,000 fundraising target.

Battling team leader and breast cancer survivor Annette Brook has been leading the charge she hopes will see the team, made up of family members and friends, retain its title of top Relay for Life fundraiser. Living and Giving was crowned with the honour at last year’s event, having raised $7700 between 14 team members.

‘‘People are wonderful – you have no idea,’’ Annette says.

The team fundraises all year round for Relay For Life, and its current tally sits at about $6000.

Annette says she hopes the weekend’s gala will take them to the $10,000 goal.

A wide range of goods have been donated for the event, and Annette says gala items are being sought right up to the day itself.

The gala is this Sunday at Palmerston North’s Cancer Society base, Addis House on Ruahine St.

Gala-goers will find furniture, clothes and books for sale, as well as baking, sausage sizzles and face painting.
